Twinkle Twinkle Periwinkle

Periwinkles they come in various colors,can be grown from seeds or are easily available as saplings in nurseries.They add color to the garden and make empty corners look full and  pretty and are a delight to look at. Periwinkles can be grown in pots or containers and also as hedge plants. The plant never goes out of flowers and keeps blooming throughout the year.Most common colors are Pink and White however they are also available in varied shades of pink,blue,red,magenta.etc.Once the flower blooms and falls of a little seed pod develops once the pod dries it splits open releasing tiny black little seeds which get dispersed in near by containers or pots,and before you know it you;ll have tiny periwinkle saplings growing everywhere as its a self seeding plant. Water the plant sparingly because over watering can easily lead to root rot in periwinkles sign of over watering and root rot is the plant will not grow  new leaves and remain stunted also leaves will start turning yellow and eventually the plant may die.The pink varieties do not seem to seed at least mine have not yet given me any seeds,and are a bit fussy as well in terms of how much water and sun  the plant needs my plants are in partial sun and shade where the plant gets around 6 hrs of sunlight from morning.Apart from this all is well.So Go ahead and plant these beauties  and some color to your gardens or homes.
