Organic Remedies For Your Garden

Organic remedies are an easy and natural way to tackle garden problems and maintain healthy plants and it is also harmless since these tips and remedies are not based upon harmful chemicals and pesticides , they are bio remedies that are bio degradable.


The only catch here is that the effects of these treatments do not last for a longer duration of time and there would be a need to repeat the same,which is any day a far better option as its 100 % natural,resorting to chemical warfare to deal with pests and growth issues in a plant will not only destroy the bad pests but will also kill the good bugs in the bargain .A healthy garden will always have an ecological balance and is bound to have garden pests these include (white flies,aphids,red ants,mildew,mites,etc) as well as garden friends like (butterflies,bees,ladybugs,spiders)etc.


    In case your garden is under a pest attack ,here are a few tips and tricks that you try out to deal with them,and you only need a few household items and you are ready to go.


1. Mix a tiny pinch of Asafoetida with water and use this to water plants for better flower formation.

2.Add two pinches of lime to water,mix well , and pour this on calcium deficient chili and tomato plants.

3.Ash from burnt wood  which is a rich source of Phosphorous can be used as a fix for flowers falling off from the plants,by simply sprinkling it on the soil.

4.Soak some fish scales in water for two days in a closed container and pour this water on plants to fix nitrogen deficiency,which leads to yellowing of leaves.

5. Don't  throw away the water used to boil eggs, potatoes,beets and other vegetables this water can be cooled and poured for plants to provide them with extra minerals.Also if you have any extra drinking water left don't just throw it away in your sink,use it to water your plants instead.


6.Sour Buttermilk  is wonderful and can be used as a foliage spray,to get bigger and better blooms,vegetables and fruits,its a great organic fertilizer which works wonders for rose and curry leave plants.

7.Wash and dry egg shells then powder them,this powder can be  stored and used as and when required by sprinkling it directly on the soil to boost calcium naturally in plants,or boil them in  water cool it and then use it to water your vegetable,fruit and flower plants.

8.Sprinkling some turmeric powder on potting soil helps to deter and keep ants away,it can also be sprinkled on compost to prevent flies and maggot formation.Mix a teaspoon of turmeric powder in a liter of water and spray your plants with them to keep away pests.

9.To tackle fungal disease like powdery mildew mix 1/4 teaspoon of Soda Bicarb with water and spray it on the effected parts of the plant,repeat as and when required till the signs of mildew are completely gone.

10.Chop banana peels,potato peels,mushroom stems finely and  scatter it  directly onto the potting soil of roses and vegetables growing in the garden to give them that extra boost of minerals .



11.Chop into fine pieces 1 kg of ripe papaya,1 kg of Pumpkin,1 kg ripe Bananas with the peels add 1 kg jaggery and crack an whole egg with the shell ,submerge in water and keep it a plastic container with a small opening keeping the opening covered to prevent entry of air and flies,keep it this way for 15 days.At the end of 15 days this fertilizer is ready to use.Mix 500 ml with 10 liters of water and spray on plants or crops.

12.Mix coconut milk( home made) and sour Buttermilk in equal proportions and keep it covered in a mud or plastic container covered for a week,After a week open the the container now mix the fertilizer and use 1 part to 10 parts of water and spray on crops or plants.It helps in better flower and fruiting,improves soil health and repels pests away.

13.1 tsp of raw cow milk mixed with water helps prevent fungal attacks in plants like Hibiscus,Guava etc.

14.Boil a handful of fresh Neem leaves in a liter of water,let the concoction cool down spray on plants to prevent insects and other  garden pests from attacking leaves of plants.

15.Distilled Cow Urine can be sprayed directly on plants infested with aphids,white flies,mites and other garden pests to help get rid of them.
